Add or remove GST from any amount and see the CGST, SGST or IGST split. Updated for the new GST rates. Free, no sign-up.
Adding GST: GST = amount × rate ÷ 100. Total = amount + GST.
Removing GST (when the price already includes GST): amount before GST = total × 100 ÷ (100 + rate). GST = total − amount before GST.
Within your state the GST is split equally into CGST and SGST. To another state the full GST is charged as IGST.
Example: ₹10,000 at 18% within the state gives CGST ₹900 + SGST ₹900, total ₹11,800.
| RATE | COMMONLY APPLIES TO |
|---|---|
| 0% | Fresh fruit and vegetables, milk, curd, unbranded flour and other essentials |
| 5% | Most daily-use and packaged items, many food products, medicines |
| 18% | Most other goods and services, electronics and appliances |
| 40% | Luxury and sin goods such as tobacco products and aerated sugary drinks |
| 3% / 0.25% | Gold, silver and jewellery / rough diamonds and precious stones |
Rates follow the GST changes effective 22 September 2025. The exact rate depends on your item’s HSN code; check with your CA when unsure.
Multiply the amount by the GST rate and divide by 100. For ₹5,000 at 5%, GST is ₹250 and the total is ₹5,250. The calculator above does this instantly.
Divide the total by (100 + rate) and multiply by 100. For ₹1,180 including 18% GST, the amount before GST is ₹1,000 and the GST is ₹180. Choose “Remove GST” above.
If the buyer is in the same state as you, charge CGST and SGST, each half of the GST rate. If the buyer is in another state, charge IGST at the full rate.
From 22 September 2025 most items moved to the 5% and 18% slabs, with 40% for luxury and sin goods. A few items may still have other rates, so type any rate into “Other %” if you need it.
